How Invisalign Works

Invisalign uses clear, customized aligners to gently and gradually shift teeth into their ideal positions, eliminating the need for metal brackets and wires completely. Every two weeks or so, you’ll advance to the next series of aligners in your treatment until you reach your final results, and every six to eight weeks, you’ll return to our office for a quick progress check. We’ll also provide you with the next series of trays in your treatment during these routine visits.
Who Can Invisalign Help?

Are you interested in straightening your teeth with clear, comfortable, and convenient aligners? If so, you’ll be happy to hear that Invisalign has helped more than 17 million patients. So, there’s a good chance that you’ll be a candidate, too! The best way to find out is by scheduling a consultation at our Bloomfield office, but you can also read on to learn more about the orthodontic problems clear aligners can correct.
Crowded Teeth

“Does Invisalign fix crowded teeth?” This is one of the most-asked questions about clear aligner treatment. If you’re struggling with overcrowding and have been wondering the same thing, we have good news: the answer is “yes” for patients with mild to moderate cases. So, don’t just assume that traditional braces are your only path to your dream smile. You may be able to achieve the same beautiful results without any metal!
Gaps Between Teeth

Are there small, but noticeable spaces between several of your teeth? Maybe you are struggling to smile confidently because you have a large gap between your two front teeth. Either way, Invisalign may be the answer! If we determine that you’re a good candidate, then we can use a custom series of clear aligners to guide your teeth from where they are now to their ideal positions (often in just 12-18 months, too!).
Overbite

While your upper teeth should sit in front of your lower ones, several problems can arise if they jut out too far, including trouble chewing properly and enunciating clearly. That’s why we recommend exploring your treatment options sooner rather than later, even if you are happy with the appearance of your smile. The sooner you do, the sooner we can determine if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign.
Underbite

Some patients are struggling with the opposite issue: their lower teeth sit in front of their upper ones. If you’re one of them, then you know exactly how difficult it is to smile with confidence, enunciate clearly, and chew properly with an underbite. Fortunately, traditional braces are no longer the only option! With a custom series of clear aligners, we can correct mild to moderate cases of this orthodontic problem as well.
Crossbite

A crossbite is when some of the upper teeth sit behind the lower ones. If that’s the case for you when you bite down, then it’s important to pursue orthodontic treatment before it leads to TMJ dysfunction, premature wear, and other serious problems. The good news is that Invisalign aligners are often a solution when used in tandem with other orthodontic accessories, like rubber bands and buttons.
Open Bite

Open bites often form due to genetics and childhood habits, like thumb sucking. Unfortunately, even relatively mild cases can lead to issues, including premature wear and tear on your teeth. It’s important to get the orthodontic treatment you need before that happens! At your consultation, we can complete a comprehensive oral exam and determine if Invisalign is the best solution.
Benefits of Invisalign

Since its debut over two decades ago, more than 17 million patients have chosen Invisalign. If you’re considering doing the same thing, then you might find it helpful to learn several unique benefits that you’ll enjoy with this orthodontic treatment, including:
The Aligners Are Metal-Free

While traditional braces use brackets and wires to achieve the desired results, Invisalign uses a custom series of aligners. Not only are they completely metal-free, but they are crafted from smooth plastic and have a low profile. As a result, they are considerably more comfortable. So, if you’ve always wanted to pursue a straighter smile, but you were worried that the teeth-straightening process would hurt, you should consider Invisalign!
The Average Treatment Timeline Is 12-18 Months

Typically, it takes 2-3 years to correct overcrowding, open bites, and other common orthodontic problems with traditional braces. With Invisalign, the average treatment timeline is much shorter: 12-18 months. If you want an estimate of your time with clear aligners, the best thing to do is schedule a consultation with us. That way, we can get an in-depth understanding of your dental history, needs, and goals to create your treatment plan.
The Aligners Are Basically Invisible

For years, pursuing a straighter smile meant wearing noticeable metal braces. That’s no longer the case! Since Invisalign aligners are crafted from see-through plastic, they are virtually undetectable. In fact, once they are seated in position, even the people you see every day will have a hard time telling when you’re wearing them! So, you can smile with complete confidence throughout your orthodontic treatment.
It’s Easy to Maintain a Healthy Smile

One aspect of living with traditional braces that patients are often surprised by is that they need special dental care products, like interproximal toothbrushes. Thankfully, that’s not necessary with Invisalign. After you remove your aligners, you can brush, floss, and rinse with mouthwash like normal. Even cleaning your trays is easy because you only need three things: clean, cool water, a soft-bristle toothbrush, and clear, mild dishwashing soap.
There Aren’t Any Dietary Restrictions

A downside of traditional braces that patients usually don’t consider is the dietary restrictions. Since Invisalign aligners are removable, you don’t need to steer clear of all your favorite foods during your teeth-straightening journey. All we ask is that you follow one rule: remove your aligners and store them in their designated case first. That way, they don’t stain, warp, or break.
Less Time in the Treatment Chair Overall

If you’re a busy parent, you have a demanding job, or you’re taking a ton of classes this semester, you likely don’t have time for a 1+ hour-long orthodontic appointment every month. Good news: there aren’t monthly adjustment appointments with Invisalign. Most patients only come to our Bloomfield office every 6-8 weeks so we can make sure their teeth are moving as anticipated and, if they are, pick up the next several pairs of aligners in the series.
Propel®

Propel is a special orthodontic service that can be used in combination with Invisalign clear aligners to allow you to achieve faster results. Our team will use a small handheld device to stimulate the bone that supports your teeth, signaling it to create new bone in order to aid in the movement of your tooth roots. There’s no recovery time, virtually zero discomfort, and most patients who are undergoing orthodontic treatment can benefit from Propel as well!
AcceleDent®

AcceleDent is another FDA-approved service we offer in combination with Invisalign clear aligners. For 10 to 20 minutes every day, you will place your mouth on a small mouthpiece that will gently vibrate. These soft vibrations will help your aligners be more securely seated over your teeth, leading to increased treatment efficiency and in some cases, faster results!
Alternative Orthodontic Options

In addition to Propel, AcceleDent, and Invisalign aligners, Dr. Abboushi also offers Six Month Smiles for patients who are looking for more cosmetic-focused orthodontic care. Our team can help match you up with the orthodontic option that best fits your unique dental need at your initial consultation, once we’ve had a chance to examine your mouth and X-rays.
Understanding the Cost of Invisalign

Like many other patients who are considering Invisalign, you might have an important question on your mind: How much does it cost? Although we can’t provide you with an accurate estimate without a consultation, we can share some helpful information on the topic, including if dental insurance usually covers a portion of the price. So, read on!
Factors That Affect the Cost of Invisalign

As we mentioned above, we can’t provide you with an estimate of the cost of Invisalign in Bloomfield without an appointment. That’s because there are several factors that need to be considered, including:
- If any preliminary treatments are needed
- How severe your misalignment is
- How many aligners need to be made
- If rubber bands or any other orthodontic accessories are needed
- The type of retainer that needs to be made to preserve your results
Once Dr. Abboushi has all of this information, he can provide you with the price. Then, our team at Premier Family Dentistry of Bloomfield can review the different financial solutions that are available at our office.
Invisalign vs. Mail-In Aligners: Which Costs More?

Usually, mail-in aligners are cheaper. There are a few reasons for this, including that there usually isn’t an initial exam, patients need to take their own impressions, and there often isn’t a licensed dental professional overseeing the treatment process. So, while they are cheaper, they certainly aren’t better. In fact, many patients who opt for alternatives like these end up experiencing worsened misalignment and dental damage, which is more costly in the long run.
Does Dental Insurance Cover Invisalign?

You might be surprised to hear this, but some dental insurance providers do cover a portion of the cost of Invisalign. So, if you are insured, don’t hesitate to provide us with your membership information when you call to schedule your appointment. Since we work with several popular providers, including Cigna, Aetna, and Delta Dental, we have the experience necessary to make understanding and utilizing your benefits easy.
Options for Making Invisalign Affordable

If you are one of the roughly 50% of patients who don’t have dental insurance, that’s okay – that’s not the only financial solution that’s available at our office. We also offer periodic special offers to help our patients get the top-tier care they deserve while also saving money. Plus, we welcome payment plans with trusted third-party financiers, like CareCredit!
If you would like more details on the financial solutions that are available at our office, or you’re ready to get an estimate of the cost of Invisalign, then take the next step: schedule a consultation with us.
